Swing-Arm Style Lift

Swing-Arm Style Lift FAQs Return to Top
The swing-arm style scooter lift uses a mechanical arm secured to the vehicle. A webbing strap attaches to the scooter or wheelchair via a docking device provided by the lift manufacturer. The lift will raise and lower the unoccupied scooter or wheelchair effortlessly using an electric motor powered by the vehicle’s battery.
The swinging motion may be either manual or power-assisted. You just push a button to lift the scooter or wheelchair and the arm moves it into the vehicle. Conversely, the lift will raise the scooter or wheelchair, swing it away from the vehicle and lower it to the ground for use again. |

Platform Style Lift

Platform Style Lift FAQs Return to Top
The platform-style scooter lift uses a platform to raise and lower the unoccupied scooter or wheelchair. Simply drive your scooter or wheelchair onto the platform while it sets on the ground. With the push of a button, an arm secures the scooter or wheelchair and raises the platform off the ground. Depending on the model, the platform will either remain outside the vehicle for transport or be stowed inside the vehicle. Another push of the button lowers it to the ground, then releases the scooter or wheelchair. At this point, you can drive off the platform and be on your way!
The platforms are designed for forward motion in either direction, eliminating the need to back onto or off the platform.

Standard Dual-Post Lift

Standard Dual-PostLift FAQs Return to Top
A standard dual-post lift, such as the Braun Millennium Series lift, uses two hydraulic arms and a sturdier platform to lift heavier wheelchairs. Many people rely on the dual-post wheelchair lift for its strength, dependability and stability.
The platform offers 31 inches of usable width and a choice of platform lengths of 43, 47 and 51 inches and may require extended doors. Although the standard dual-post lift provides a larger platform, it should be noted that the lift blocks the entryway where it’s located and may also inhibit the front passenger from reclining or sliding backward.

Single-Post Split-Platform Lift

Single-Post Platform Lift FAQs Return to Top
A single-post split-platform lift, such as Braun’s Vangater II, employs a platform that splits or folds when stowed to allow access to the entryway where the lift is located. This clears the way for others to enter and exit the vehicle without having to deploy the lift.
The platform is 30” x 43” inches long. The single post is located toward the rear of the vehicle when mounted in the side passenger doors, allowing the front passenger more legroom as well as the ability to recline. The Braun Mini Vangater, a smaller version of the Vangater II, is designed for small children whose wheelchairs will fit into an unconverted minivan.

Dual-post split-platform lifts are designed with the strength and stability of a dual-post lift and the visibility of a split-platform lift. The wheelchair lift platform folds horizontally.
Visibility through the entryway window is unobscured, and the wheelchair platform is hidden from outside view when the lift is stowed.

Under-Vehicle Lift FAQs Return to Top
An under-vehicle lift mounts outside the vehicle under the frame of a full-size van on the passenger side. Under-vehicle lifts do not infringe on the interior space or change the vehicle aesthetics.
Under-vehicle wheelchair lifts provide clear and easy access to the van, a clear view for the driver and maximum interior space for all passengers. The Braun UVL provides a useable wheelchair platform size of 30” x 43”.
